Regional Coordinating Committee on Small Arms And Light Weapons Meeting, 29-30 April 2024, Lusaka, Zambia
The Ministerial Committee of the Organ (MCO) of August 2018, in Maputo, Republic of Mozambique, urged Member States to expedite the process of amending their laws on firearms in conformity with the regional and international legal instruments. Subsequent to the aforesaid Decision, the Chiefs of Police Sub-Committee (CPSC) of June 2022, in Pretoria, Republic of South Africa, urged Member States to align their legislation with the SADC Protocol on the Control of Firearms Ammunition and Other Related Materials as well as international legal instruments on the Control of Illicit Firearms and Ammunition
In view of the aforesaid, the SADC Secretariat in collaboration with the INTERPOL Regional Bureau Harare convened the meeting of the Regional Coordinating Committee (RCC) on Small Arms and Light Weapons from 29-30 April 2024, in Lusaka, Republic of Zambia.
The meeting was attended by at least two (2) participants from each SADC Member State.
