Briefing the Chief of Police Force of The United Republic of Tanzania and Chairperson of SARPCCO

The SADC Secretariat, supported by INTERPOL Regional Bureau Harare undertook a mission to Dodoma, United Republic of Tanzania, from 30 September 2024 to 01 October 2024 to provide a comprehensive overview of the roles and responsibilities of the Chairperson of SARPCCO, Mr. Camillus M. WAMBURA - Inspector General of Police, and the Chairpersons of the SARPCCO Sub-Sub Committees during his tenure as Chairperson of SARPCCO. The SARPCCO Sub-sub Committees include the Training, Legal and Women’s Network Sub-sub Committees.

The Agenda of the discussions with the Chairperson included the following:

  • Role and responsibilities of the Chairperson

  • Regional Instruments to Prevent and Combat Transnational Organised Crime

  • Decisions to be implemented during the turner of the Chairperson.

  • Meetings to be hosted by the Chairperson and Standards of hosting Statutory

  • Annual Operation Plan/Regional Action Plan

The Republic of Tanzania assumed the Chairmanship of the Chiefs of Police Sub-Committee/ Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO) of the Interstate Defence and Security Cooperation following the August 2024 SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government.
